Most honey consists of over 80% bulk sugar and 17% water. This sugar and
water bulk can significantly limit the usability and efficacy of honey in health-oriented applications.
Our honey extracts are produced via a patented extraction technique that removes all
sugars, proteins and water leaving only the active ingredients: a highly concentrated
complex mixture of flavonoids, amino acids, peptides, antioxidants and minerals.
Camelyn Ltd. extracts are produced from the honeys collected in the ecologically
pristine Caucasus Mountain region of the Republic of Georgia that was known
to the ancients as the Kingdom of Kolchis. Honey from
this region is referred to as "Kolkheti" honey. In Greek Mythology Kolchis,
the civilization dating back to 2000 BC, was the home of Aeëtes and Medea
and the destination of the Argonauts.
The medicinal efficacy of the honeys of
Kolchis is legendary and was documented by early writers that include the ancient
Greek historian Xenofont. The 12th Century Georgian medical publication
"Tsigni Saekimo" contained more than 160 prescriptions of treatment of infection,
inflammation, non-healing wounds and tumors with Kolkheti honey. More recently
the honey of Kolchis is documented by Eli Smith (1801-1857) the American
missionary and orientalist; Edmond Spencer in his book "Voyage Along Cherkezia,
Abkhazia and Megrelia"; and the 19th Century English scientist Pevi all tout the
effectiveness of honeys of this region.
There are no chemical alterations to these 100% natural honey products. There
are no other ingredients added, except as indicated to maintain the reduction of moisture.
