Kolhketi Honey Liquid Extract is water-soluable and is active at extremely low concentrations. The extract also blends readily with many non-water or oil-based products.

Our Honey

Camelyn Ltd. produces extracts from the honeys collected in the ecologically pristine Caucasus Mountain region of the Republic of Georgia that was known to the ancients as the Kingdom of Kolchis (also spelled Colchis). Honey from this region is referred to as "Kolkheti" honey. In Greek Mythology Kolchis, the civilization dating back to 2000 BC, was the home of Aeëtes and Medea and the destination of the Argonauts.

The medicinal efficacy of the honeys of Kolchis is legendary and was documented by early writers that include the ancient Greek historian Xenofont. The 12th Century Georgian medical publication "Tsigni Saekimo" contains more than 160 prescriptions of treatment of infection, inflammation, non-healing wounds and tumors with Kolkheti honey. More recently the honey of Kolchis is documented by Eli Smith (1801-1857) the American missionary and orientalist; Edmond Spencer in his book "Voyage Along Cherkezia, Abkhazia and Megrelia"; and the 19th Century English scientist Pevi all tout the effectiveness of honeys of this region.

Kolkheti Honey is a pure, wild and ecologically clean honey.

The Extraction Process

Most honeys consist of over 80% bulk sugar and 17% water. This sugar bulk and water can significantly reduce the usability and efficacy of honey in many applications. There are, for example, limits to the amount of raw honey that an individual can consume in attempting to achieve a therepeutic effect. There are limits to the amount of raw honey that can be added to a product before the honey becomes dominant ingredient.
